COMPARE

RightRep vs Runna.
An honest look.

Runna is an adaptive running-coaching app owned by Strava; RightRep is a live form coach that also records GPS runs. They overlap on running and diverge almost everywhere else — this page compares them side by side, every Runna claim cited to Runna's own materials, and the places where Runna clearly wins listed as plainly as the rest.

The two products

What each one is, in its own words — before the side-by-side.

🏃

Runna

An AI-assisted running race-training coach (launched 2022, London; acquired by Strava in April 2025). Coach-designed plans personalized around your current fitness, adapting when you miss workouts, get sick, travel or run in heat; a race-discovery database ("Train with Runna"); structured workouts pushed to Apple Watch, Garmin, COROS, Suunto and Amazfit. $19.99/month or $119.99/year after a 7-day free trial; the free tier is week 1 of one plan.

📱

RightRep

A live form coach first: prop your phone, and the camera watches the set — 33 body landmarks per frame measured on the device, faults flagged joint-by-joint, spoken cues mid-rep, a 0–100 score for every completed repetition — plus GPS run/walk/hike/ride recording, an in-app community feed with clubs and challenges, and AI training plans and coach chat. Live form checks are free forever; Pro is $9.99/month or $99.99/year after a 7-day free trial.

Where RightRep wins

The honest case for our side — grounded in what the app does today.

📏

Nobody watches your reps in Runna

Runna's strength add-on shows exercise animations and form tips. RightRep measures the actual set: 33 landmarks per frame, joint angles against the exercise's ruleset, one spoken correction at a time, a 0–100 score per completed rep. That measurement — every set, not just booked sessions — is the product.

💬

Social that lives in the app

Runna shut its in-app Community tab in September 2026 and moved community to a Strava club. RightRep's feed, kudos, comments, clubs, challenges and live run broadcasts run in-app today — your training audience isn't rented from another network.

💚

Health Connect and Wear OS

RightRep exports workouts to Apple Health and Health Connect and ships a Wear OS companion; Runna documents neither. If your phone is Android and your watch isn't a Garmin-class device, the integration math changes.

🌗

Half the price, free-forever core

Runna's free tier is week 1 of one plan, and price is the most common complaint in its Trustpilot reviews. RightRep's live form checks, exercise library, history and GPS runs are free forever; Pro lifts AI quotas and adds sync for $9.99/month or $99.99/year.

Where Runna wins

The other side of the comparison — because a page that only praises one column is an ad.

Adaptive plans

Runna's plan engine repairs itself: realignment after missed weeks, a "Not Feeling 100%" mode for illness, holiday blocks, heat-adjusted paces, and pace targets that shift only when your splits justify it. RightRep's AI plans are generated once from the wizard — honest, but static.

The race calendar

Races by Runna lists thousands of races with filters (distance, terrain, price, tags) and athlete counters — 17,768 training for the TCS London Marathon at last public count — and one tap turns a race into a plan with taper and recovery mapped. Our events board is curated, not a database.

Watch workout push

Structured workouts land on Apple Watch, Garmin, COROS, Suunto and Amazfit with target paces and interval guidance on-wrist. If your whole training life lives on a Garmin, Runna meets you there; RightRep's companions cover Apple Watch and Wear OS.

Depth in running, languages, and trust at scale

Runna is eight languages with native coach voices, regional pricing, 76k+ App Store ratings at 4.8–4.9 and a Strava-sized parent. RightRep ships six locales, is field-testing its first cohort, and its GPS recorder is younger than their plan engine by years.

The honest summary: training seriously for a race with adaptive pacing? Runna earns its price. Getting your squat actually corrected, filmed set after filmed set, with a feed and clubs around it? That's the job RightRep does that Runna doesn't try to do.

How RightRep's form check works

What actually happens between "start session" and the summary screen.

🦴

Measured, not guessed

An on-device pose model tracks 33 body landmarks per frame. Joint angles are compared against the exercise's Position Profile — acceptable ranges, phase durations, left/right symmetry tolerances. Occluded joints are never scored: hidden is hidden, not guessed.

🎯

Rules you can read

Profiles are pure data — 46 bundled Position Profiles today, and Machine Scan drafts a new one from a photo of an unfamiliar machine that the same scorer then uses. Every cue and every score traces back to a rule in that profile, not to a model's mood.

🏃

And the running half

GPS sessions (run, walk, hike, ride) with jitter-filtered routes, a steady trailing pace readout, optional auto-pause, kilometer split cues and BLE chest-strap heart rate — published to the feed or broadcast live if you want an audience.

Comparison questions

The questions people actually ask before choosing.

I'm a runner — is RightRep a Runna alternative?

Only partly. RightRep records GPS runs with split cues, heart rate and routes, generates multi-week plans and broadcasts live. Runna's plans adapt, its race database picks your next race, and its workouts land on more watches. Where RightRep is unique is the filmed set: if you strength-train to support your running, the camera scores every rep of it.

Whose training plans are better?

Different jobs. Runna's plans adapt around missed weeks, illness and heat, anchored to measured fitness — that engine is their product. RightRep's plans come from an AI wizard (sport, goal, days, equipment, limitations) and don't yet adapt after generation; they're strong for structure and honest about being one-shot.

Which one is for the gym?

RightRep, by a distance. The live camera form check with per-rep 0–100 scores, spoken cues and the automatic rest timer only exists here; Runna's strength add-on is animations and tips next to your logbook, and its own docs place strength outside the adaptive engine.

Do they work with my watch?

Runna pushes structured workouts to Apple Watch, Garmin, COROS, Suunto and Amazfit. RightRep's Apple Watch companion streams heart rate and cadence and starts runs from the wrist; the Wear OS companion mirrors and controls sessions; and any BLE chest strap pairs to the phone. Check your specific device against each app's list.

What does each cost?

Runna: $19.99/month or $119.99/year after a 7-day free trial; free tier is week 1 of one plan; a Strava bundle exists. RightRep: live form checks, library, history and GPS runs free forever; Pro — higher AI quotas, cloud sync, no ads — $9.99/month or $99.99/year after a 7-day free trial.

Who sees my video and my runs?

RightRep's live analysis runs on the device — live-check video is not uploaded; sharing a clip or posting to the feed is an explicit action. Runna records with the phone or watch and syncs activities to your Strava if connected; its AI workout insights process training metrics with anonymized third-party assistance, per its own support docs.
