COMPARE

RightRep vs Strong.
An honest look.

Strong Workout Tracker (Strong Fitness PTE, on iOS since 2011) is the strength world's pure logger — "the simplest, most intuitive workout tracker", a set-entry loop polished for fifteen years, warm-up and plate calculators, set tags, a rest timer that starts itself. It is genuinely free to log with (unlimited workouts; the cap is 3 custom routines), its PRO costs roughly half our subscription, and there is a lifetime buyout option. This page concedes all of that plainly. What Strong never does is watch a rep: no camera, no form check, no rep counting — and it plans nothing; you bring the program, Strong writes it down. RightRep is the other half of that trade: the camera measures the set — 33 body landmarks per frame on the device, a 0–100 score for every completed repetition — with strength, nutrition and GPS running in one app, and the form-check core free forever. Every Strong claim on this page is cited to Strong's own materials or named sources, and the places where Strong clearly wins are listed as plainly as the rest.

What each one is, in its own words — before the side-by-side.

📓

Strong

Strong Fitness PTE's workout logger, on iOS since 2011 — "the simplest, most intuitive workout tracker… designed to stay out of your way", "Think less. Lift more." (strong.app). The product is the set-entry loop: previous weights pre-filled, sets tagged Warm Up / Failure / Drop, supersets grouped, an auto countdown rest timer, a warm-up calculator and a plate calculator, PRs and estimated 1RM with volume and progression graphs, lbs/kg either way. A "comprehensive range of cardio and strength exercises" plus your own, with animated instruction videos. Free forever for unlimited workouts — limited to 3 custom routines — and PRO at $4.99/month or $29.99/year (US App Store), with a one-time "Strong PRO Forever" lifetime tier. iPhone, Android and a fully-featured Apple Watch app; 11 languages including pt-BR; 4.86★ across 108,523 US App Store ratings, 1M+ Play installs, with CNBC and The Verge quotes still on the listing.

📱

RightRep

A live form coach first: prop your phone, and the camera watches the set — 33 body landmarks per frame measured on the device, faults flagged joint-by-joint, spoken cues mid-rep, a 0–100 score for every completed repetition, and an automatic rest timer that starts when the counted set ends — plus GPS run/walk/hike/ride recording, race-goal training plans, strength and nutrition logging in the same app, and coach chat. Live form checks are free forever; Pro is $9.99/month or $99.99/year after a 7-day free trial.

Where RightRep wins

The honest case for our side — grounded in what the app does today.

📏

Strong never watches a rep

There is no camera, no pose estimation and no rep counting anywhere in Strong's apps or site — exercise guidance is "a growing library of animated videos" you watch before the set. RightRep measures the actual set: 33 body landmarks per frame, joint angles against the exercise's ruleset, one spoken correction at a time, a 0–100 score per completed rep. Strong remembers the lift; nobody in it checks the lift.

🧭

More than a notebook

Strong is deliberately one job — and says so: "doesn't bog you down with distractions and unnecessary gimmicks you'd never use". RightRep ships the surrounding life in one place: calories, macros and hydration with a weekly AI nutrition review, GPS run/walk/hike/ride recording, race-goal training plans beside the lifting, and coach chat between sessions. The scope their manifesto warns about is the scope we actually deliver.

⌚

Both watches, and the web

Strong ships a fully-featured Apple Watch app — and stops there: no Wear OS app in either store, and no web client anywhere in its materials. RightRep covers both wrists (Apple Watch and Wear OS companions) and adds a full web app with cloud sync, so the record lives wherever you are, not only in the phone.

🧮

Numbers you didn't have to type

Strong's PRs, estimated 1RM and volume graphs are only as true as the numbers you typed between sets. RightRep's counts come from the phase state machine that watched the set — every rep counted and validated in-state, every scored set a measured fact. When the log says ten, ten reps happened.

Where Strong wins

The other side of the comparison — because a page that only praises one column is an ad.

Fifteen years of the fastest logging UX in the cluster

"The simplest interface of any fitness app" is the first feature bullet on their own listing — and it's earned: set tags (Warm Up / Failure / Drop), supersets, a warm-up calculator, a plate calculator, an auto countdown rest timer, previous weights a tap away, lbs/kg mixed however you like. On pure set-entry speed, Strong beats us today, and it isn't close — our logging flow exists, but the camera is the product's center, not the keypad. Logging-speed parity is on our backlog, stated as backlog.

The free tier is genuinely free

"The free version of Strong can save unlimited workouts, but is limited to 3 custom routines" — the core loop never breaks, and the cap sits on breadth that only multi-program lifters hit. "Strong Accounts are Free Forever" is a promise most subscription apps won't put on their homepage. Our free line protects a different core (form checks free forever), but for free pure logging, Strong's offer is better — plainly.

Half our price — with a lifetime door

Strong PRO is $4.99/month or $29.99/year in the US ($23.99 tested alongside), with six-month and one-time "Strong PRO Forever" lifetime tiers at $79.99–$99.99; Brazil runs R$ 15,90–18,90 monthly and R$ 499,90–599,90 for Forever. RightRep Pro is $9.99/month or $99.99/year — it prices the camera pipeline, nutrition engine and GPS stack, and we don't pretend the sticker race is close. On price, Strong wins.

Eleven languages to our six

Strong ships 11 locale codes on iOS — EN, FR, DE, IT, JA, KO, PT, RU, ES and two Chinese variants — against RightRep's six (en/es/hi/id/pt/tr). One of the cluster's loggers now beats our locale count, and this page says so rather than hide it; our localization waves continue from #531.

Fifteen years, CNBC and The Verge

On the App Store since September 2011 — older than everything else in the strength cluster except Jefit — with 4.86★ across 108,523 US ratings, 1M+ Play installs, and press quotes ("I'd suggest downloading the 'Strong' app before you return to the gym. It's that good." — CNBC) still doing acquisition work on the listing itself. Claimed scale runs 1.2M (App Store description) to 3,000,000 (Play) to "over 5 million" (site hero) — every figure carries its surface below. RightRep is a young app earning each user; we say so rather than pretend otherwise.

The honest summary: a notebook perfected over fifteen years, free forever for the writing, at half our price — and it never watches a single rep or plan one? That's Strong, and it is genuinely the best at what it does. A camera that measures every repetition, nutrition, GPS and race plans in one app? That's the job RightRep does that Strong deliberately doesn't try.

How RightRep's form check works

What actually happens between "start session" and the summary screen.

🦴

Measured, not guessed

An on-device pose model tracks 33 body landmarks per frame. Joint angles are compared against the exercise's Position Profile — acceptable ranges, phase durations, left/right symmetry tolerances. Occluded joints are never scored: hidden is hidden, not guessed.

🎯

Rules you can read

Profiles are pure data — 46 bundled Position Profiles today, and Machine Scan drafts a new one from a photo of an unfamiliar machine that the same scorer then uses. Every cue and every score traces back to a rule in that profile, not to a model's mood.

⏱️

Counted sets, timed rest

The same phase state machine that scores reps decides when a set is complete — and starts the rest timer from that moment, with a per-exercise default and a spoken cue when rest is over. The metronome of the workout, driven by what actually happened.

Comparison questions

The questions people actually ask before choosing.

I just want to log my lifts fast — which one?

Strong, honestly. If you already have a program — Starting Strength, StrongLifts 5x5, a coach's sheet — and the only job is writing sets down with zero friction, fifteen years of set-entry polish is the better tool for that job today, and its free tier never interrupts you. RightRep is for the lifter whose problem is execution: depth, back angle, left/right symmetry, reps nobody counts. Plenty of lifters will keep both — Strong as the notebook, RightRep as the eyes.

Does Strong check your form?

No. There is no camera, no pose estimation and no rep counting anywhere in Strong's app or site — form support is "detailed exercise instructions with a growing library of animated videos", watched before the set. Form measurement is a camera problem, and it is the thing RightRep is built to do: 33 body landmarks per frame on the device, faults flagged joint-by-joint, a 0–100 score for every completed repetition.

Is this the same app as StrongLifts 5x5?

No — different products. Strong Workout Tracker (Strong Fitness PTE) is the general logger this page compares; StrongLifts 5x5 is a separate app built around one program — and Strong is explicitly "optimized for" logging routines like it. One more name to know: Lyfta is a separate app that copies Strong's "Think Less. Lift More." tagline and surfaces next to it in store carousels. Every link on this page points at Strong Workout Tracker's own materials.

What does each cost?

Strong: free forever for unlimited workouts, capped at 3 custom routines; PRO is $4.99/month · $19.99/six months · $23.99 or $29.99/year in the US (two price points surface per tier), plus a one-time Strong PRO Forever at $79.99–$99.99; in Brazil R$ 15,90–18,90 monthly, R$ 77,90–117,90 yearly, R$ 499,90–599,90 Forever. RightRep: live form checks, exercise library, history and GPS runs free forever; Pro — higher AI quotas, cloud sync, no ads — is $9.99/month or $99.99/year after a 7-day free trial.

I'm in Brazil — which one?

Strong ships fully in pt-BR with a live BRL ladder — and its Brazilian footprint is small: 916 iOS ratings here against 24,477 for Hevy, the cluster's other logger. Inside Brazil the strength-cluster question is live — planner (Fitbod), logger (Hevy or Strong) or coach — and this page adds the camera option to that list. RightRep ships everything in pt-BR — form checks, cues, plans, the web app — with no region gates on any feature.

Who sees my video?

RightRep's live analysis runs on the device — live-check video is not uploaded, and sharing a clip or posting to the feed is an explicit action you take. Strong has no camera at all, so nothing films you there; your Strong data has CSV export ("Export your data any time") and cloud sync, a data-freedom posture we respect and match rather than beat.
